As a writer I appreciate writing as a craft, as an art form. It almost doesn’t matter what the content is, a well crafted book is a pleasure to read. When the content is about something as important as what is happening to our world, the how, the what and the why, painstakingly researched and laid out in plain language, then something rather special happens… you can’t put the damned thing down.

Kerry-anne Mendoza’s book ‘Austerity: The Demolition of the Welfare State and the Rise of the Zombie Economy’ is both a masterpiece and a master class.

To borrow the words of the late Douglas Adams.

Slartibartfast: You must come with me.

You must read this book! Am I telling you what to do? Not really, it’s more of a threat of the *or else* variety. Or else what? It might be too late.
